4.8 Banna park & Limestone cave

Banna Park is a nature reserve located a few miles to the north of the city. The park surrounds a mountain 200 mts. height with a 360º view point including Ishigaki city.

There are many species of butterfly, ruddy kingfisher and if you are lucky, such I was, you could see and take a picture of the crested serpent eagle.
I recommend you don´t go out of the paths, on uncertain grass, natives get afraid if you do due to the habu snake, it is not all time around, it is not aggressive but if it bites you your live will be in hard risk.

Huge ferns around Nature square.
Wild jungle visit on board walks.
Wonderful views from the Emerald Sea Observation Point, a nice path going up to the top. It is also possible to do that by car but it is not heavy at all walking and it is beautiful nature atmosphere.

Stone Monument Forest.

Some hundred meters on the right side going from the city to first entrance of Banna Park.

The stalactite cave of Ishigaki island was formed over a period of 200.000 years.
In the ancient times they were submerged in the ocean, there are fossilized shells.
There is harmony of water and stone emphasized by a great illumination.
It is dry even raining heavy outside and it kept a regular temperature close to 23º all the time.
