Taketomi jima is about 10 minutes by ferry from Ishigaki port, only 6,5 kilometers separe both islands. By the way greetings to Keiko san and Daab san from Hirata Kanko travel agency at Ishigaki port who were very friendly and helpful with me.
Circumference of the tiny island is 9,2 kilometers, area 5,42 km.2 and population about 350 inhabitants plus much more cows and nicely combed sheeps.
Lanes are made of white coral sand and enclosures as well of coral rocks.
Red tile roofs traditionals in Okinawa are frequent and extremely preserved here.
There are no car no buses, just charts lead by ox and bicycles.
Probably the best post office to work on it.

Okinawan shisa always present at entrance a pair of them and many times on the top one more.
Famous Okinawa folk song "Asadoya Yunta" belongs to Asadoya Kuyama love story in Taketomi island.
I explored the island cycling, the crow gave lucky to my visit. "Era de buen agüero".
Nagomi look out tower.
From there you can have a perfect view. You can turn 360º and see the small city and the whole island.
Singular red roofs here all around.
Beautiful gardens and well preserved houses, nowadays some of them restaurants.
Nishitou shrine.
Nishitou was administrator for the Yaeyama islands but he worked also as enginer in the Shuri castle in Naha. The stone gate of the Sonohiyan shrine and the northern wall of the castle belongs to him.
Delicious ginger with porc.
Kaijihama beach.
Star sand beach. It is said some sand there has the shape of star, every one were looking for that as "romantic gold".
Black cat extremely quiet.

I did the same on my bicycle.
West wharf is a good place for fishermens during the day and romantic spot on the sunset.
