Kuroshima is a tiny island, area is 10 km. squares.
Population are 200 inhabitants but cows 3.000.
Every February is held a Cow Festival very appreciated for tourists.
And every other month there is an auction to sell the cows.
Most of the island is pasture.
There is a marine research center.
It educate visitors about sea turtles and coral reefs.
Precise information about the different species is exhibited.
Also info related to their migrations.
Huge diversity of coral species can also be seen.
Some displays offer pictures from the festivals celebrated in the island.
Puzumari site is an old tower built of dark coral stones. During the times of the Ryukyu Kingdom, the top of the tower was the highest point of the whole island, and it was used to observe the ships going to and from. (wiki)
Behind the ferry terminal there is a little restaurant. I had lunch there, the yogurt and milk I had there were delicious.
Its undoubtedly quality has been recognised on the newspapers.
